Paul Nicholls snaps up potential star horse who 'looked almost too good' on astonishing debut

PAUL NICHOLLS will be the lucky trainer of a potential superstar horse who smashed rivals by 41 lengths on debut.

No one else could live with the hugely promising Teeshan when he raced in a point to point in Ireland.

Only three of 11 horses even finished the four-year-old maiden race, such were the gruelling conditions and incredible pace set by Teeshan.

He finished the 3m race a whopping 16 seconds faster than anything else on the card and video of his performance was shared widely online.

Teeshan was a £60,000 Goffs Land Rover sale purchase and his sire is multiple Group 1-winner Westerner.

That means he is a relative of Cheltenham Festival winner Ferny Hollow and Grade 1 winners Total Recall, Skyace and Champagne West.

And he is out of five-time winning mare Miss Pepperpot.

Gerald Quinn was trainer of Teeshan when he won at Loughanmore last weekend but the horse will now be with 14-time champion trainer Nicholls at his Ditcheat base.

Punters who watched the race back were struck by how good a jumper Teeshan was and his speed at the end.

One said: "Such a great jumper of a fence, looks an absolute picture, ears pricked and pulled away after the last looking like he could go round again, looks a top prospect for the future."
